End of 2016-17 SD Pheasant Season

It has been a fantastic season, but as they say all good things must come to an end. Our season is pretty much over, however, the work still continues on to get ready for next year. It seems like there is always something to do around the lodge, inside and outside. There are a few things that we would like to update and a few things that need some fixing or replacing.

The weather for this time of year is unbelievable. It has been in the high 40s and 50s for the last week and looks like it is going to continue on for the next week. The local golf courses are even open giving some avid golfers some practice for their upcoming season. This type of weather sure makes for some easy hunting, without the battle of blowing snow, freezing temperatures, and bone chilling winds.

This year we have some plans to continuously improve our hunting grounds. We are adding in some food plots and brood mix to boost the pheasant population providing habitat and natural foods for the pheasant chicks. This type of habitat makes for some fantastic hunting opportunities! The hunters have been controlling the coyote population which also drastically helps increase the chance of survival for fawns and pheasants.

We made some amazing friendships with the hunters that came to visit us this year and look forward to seeing them again next year. From all of us here at Royal Flush Hunting Lodge, thank you for the fun times, great stories, and please have a safe year.
